Colorbond fence calculator: cost for common lengths

Colorbond fencing is priced per metre installed. These are the calculator's estimates on our national fencing figures, with the half share you would pay if a neighbour splits the cost.

FenceColorbond 1.8 mYour half shareColorbond 2.1 m
Side fence, 15 m$1,200 to $2,850$600 to $1,425$1,800 to $3,750
Back fence, 18 m$1,440 to $3,420$720 to $1,710$2,160 to $4,500
Full boundary, 40 m$3,200 to $7,600$1,600 to $3,800$4,800 to $10,000

Gates are extra: a single gate is $250 to $650 and a double or driveway gate $800 to $2,500. Removing the old fence adds $15 to $50 per metre.

How the calculation works

Panels and posts. The number of panels (or bays) is the fence length divided by the post spacing, rounded up, and a straight run needs one more post than it has panels. The example the calculator opens with is 30 m at 2.4 m spacing: 13 panels and 14 posts. Use the panel width of the product you are buying as the spacing, and add posts for corners and gates.

Cost is the length multiplied by the per-metre row for the fence type you pick. Gates and removal of the old fence each add their own row from the same guide.

Yes. Tick the half share box and the result shows half of the estimate. How the cost of a boundary fence is actually shared is set by the dividing fences law in your state or territory, so check that before you agree a split with your neighbour.
