Battery loans from the ACT
The ACT's Sustainable Household Scheme lends homeowners between $2,000 and $20,000 toward a home battery, charging 3% interest with up to 10 years to repay. That turns a mid-range battery, typically $12,100, into repayments instead of one bill. Households already in the scheme, or that applied before a set cut-off, are limited to $15,000 over its life.
The federal battery discount
The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program takes a discount off eligible batteries, and you do not apply for it: the installer cuts it from the price or pays it back after installation. The battery must be connected to solar panels, appear on the Clean Energy Council approved list and be fitted by an SAA-accredited installer with battery endorsement. Ask whether a quote, such as $7,700 for 5 kWh, is before or after it.
Concession card holders
