The short answer

Oneflare, the second-biggest marketplace, closed on 30 June 2026 and sends its traffic to Airtasker now. That leaves hipages, Airtasker, ServiceSeeking, ServiceTasker and Bark as the marketplaces, your own Google Business Profile as the free channel, and pay-per-lead or exclusive-territory services like WTD. They charge in four different ways, so compare them on cost per won job, not on the headline price.

Oneflare has closed

Oneflare closed on 30 June 2026 and its website now points to Airtasker, which owned it. Tradies who leaned on it are the reason this page exists: the choice is now between one dominant marketplace, Airtasker's commission model, the smaller credit services and building your own channel.

How to choose

Where WTD fits

What's The Damage? is the cost-guide site homeowners use to price a job before they call anyone. When one of them asks for quotes, the job goes by SMS to at most two local tradies on pay-per-lead from $25 a lead, or to the one tradie who holds that trade and city as an exclusive territory for $250 a month. No subscription, no contract, no setup fee; the first month of a territory is free.

Frequently asked questions

Is Oneflare still running?

No. Oneflare closed on 30 June 2026 and its traffic now goes to Airtasker, which owned it.

What is the cheapest alternative to hipages?

Your own Google Business Profile is free. Among paid options, ServiceTasker charges $1 per lead reveal with no subscription, and WTD pay-per-lead starts at $25 a lead with no subscription and a maximum of two tradies per job. Cheapest per lead is not cheapest per won job, so run the numbers.

Does Airtasker charge tradies?

Airtasker takes a 22% commission from taskers plus 15% from customers, rather than a subscription or a per-lead fee.

If the sums above say hipages costs more per won job than you want to pay, WTD pay-per-lead is the other model: from $25 a lead, SMS-screened, no subscription, and a maximum of two tradies see each job. Or claim a territory outright for $250 a month, first month free, cancel anytime.
