A QBCC licence at any price
Queensland requires a QBCC licence for gas fitting regardless of what the job is worth, so even a $145 cooktop swap is licensed work. Work by an unlicensed fitter breaks the law, puts the household at risk and can complicate a later insurance claim. Searching the QBCC licensee register by name or number takes about a minute.
The certificate you should get
Queensland gas fitters who install or alter a gas system must hand over a gas system compliance certificate on completion, and must lodge a copy with the network operator inside 5 days (Business Queensland). It belongs in the job price. If you need the system checked and certified without other work, a stand-alone visit is $145–$345.
