How we price this
Every verdict compares your quote with the low, typical and high figures in WTD's price register for that exact job. There are 85 registers behind this tool — one per trade or profession — each built from published rate cards, industry bodies and our own quote sampling, and verified in September 2026.
Residential and commercial figures are scaled to your city with the same multipliers the cost guides use; a handful of trades carry their own city rows instead. Professional fees come from the tier bands on each profession's guide, quoted ex GST because that is how firms quote them.
A quote under the low figure is not automatically a bargain: check what is excluded. A quote above the high figure can be justified by access, materials or urgency, but it deserves a second opinion before you sign.

Is a 'high' quote always bad?
No. Difficult access, premium materials, urgent timing or a larger scope all push a fair price above the typical band. Ask for an itemised quote and compare like for like.
How often is the pricing data updated?
Each register carries its own verified date, shown under your verdict. Registers are reviewed monthly and re-verified when the market moves; this release is verified September 2026.
Should I always go with the cheapest quote?
Not on price alone. Very low quotes often exclude materials, call-out fees or disposal, and can signal an unlicensed operator. Use the verdict to ask better questions, then choose on scope and licence.
